Frequently asked questions

Starting therapy can be daunting. Below you will find some answers to questions you might have.

Who is psychotherapy suitable for?

Psychotherapy is suitable for everyone.  If you are struggling with something in your life and would like some help, you might benefit from psychotherapy.

Do I need a referral?

No, you don't need a referral.  You can contact me directly by phone or email and we can schedule a first appointment.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know each other and deciding how to proceed.  This involves a number of parts:

  • Welcome and explanation of what is involved and what to expect from therapy.
  • Your turn to talk about why you are here, what is going on in your life and what you would like to get out of therapy.
  • Addressing any questions or worries you may have about therapy.
  • Making goals for the therapy ahead.

How long is each session?

Each session lasts for one hour.

Fees and cancellation

Each session costs 60 euro.  If you need to cancel a session, a minimum of 48 hours notice is required. Missed sessions without 48 hours notice will incur full session fee.

How many sessions will I need?

The amount of sessions varies from person to person.  Some people come for 6 sessions, others for 60!  We will meet once a week/fortnight for as long as you feel you need to.  You can decide to finish at any time.

What qualifications do you hold?

I am a fully qualified counselling psychotherapist, with an honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from PCI College, Ireland.  I am also a pre-accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I am also a qualified yoga instructor and yoga therapist (Yoga Therapy Ireland).
